These students are not in the main photo.

We have 30 Year 5 and 6 students in our class. Our MAIN aim for the year is to be the BEST class in the school. That's to be expected because we have the BEST teacher. Other suggested aims: Quin to learn our main subjects, Sammie to respect each other, Charlie to improve our art, Dakoda to do our best, Stevie to be good sports and be friendly in fitness and Ruby to get along with everyone. Some of our planned highlights are: the tǔrangawaewae festival, ski trip, trip to Marahau to see the pa site, winter sports tournament, bike safety programme with big ride at the end. Charley is really looking forward to this event.

Many of us have lots of outside activities: Rugby, soccer, netball, horses, scouts, St Johns, dance, fixing mechanical things. Akeila's favourite outside activity is swimming..

Our behaviour MUST be of a high standard because we are the seniors in the middle school and the little kids look to us to show an example. Anyway, if we're the BEST class we must also be the BEST behaved class. BWeBman certainly finds us a very friendly class.

Favourite things are art, swimming, maths, fitness, playing, cleaning up and OUR TEACHER. We are special because we are sporty, arty, talented, have lots of books, have huge personalities, and we have a SAFE environment in which to be ourselves. We also have a COUCH to relax on.

Room 5 in retrospect, QUINNEY'S BUSH CAMP

One of the highlights of the year to date was the Quinney's Bush camp, which was held in Term One.
CAMPING IS:
......beautiful surroundings ......getting to know our friends better. ......confidence (Mr T prays)
......sleeping? in tents .........getting wet .......learning new skills
.........new ways to travel .....or not!! ..........seeing Spider Man go up the pipe.
........good food .........good manners (best group is fed first) .........lots of activities

It was a four-day camp and Mr Turner, students and parents kept the cost down by using cars rather than a bus, by raising money with raffles, and by doing the cooking themselves. The food was first-rate, they said. No-one seemed to get stuff they didn't like, and there were often buffet-style meals with some choice.

The class members slept in tents, and some got heaps of sleep while others did heaps of talking (until told off). Tents were kept scrupulously tidy because of the inspections every day. There seemed to be a bit of sleep-talking too. On another occasion a boy had to pay a visit during the night, and when he returned, the other sleeping occupants had spread themselves so that there was nowhere for him to sleep. Mum to the rescue.

The class was put in groups for main activity times. These included go-carting, flying fox, water-slide, confidence course, building and floating rafts, and kayaking. Free time activities included skating, flying fox and playing games. The children took their scooters and these were well-used.

One of the highlights was the concert. Mr T had lots of good ideas for skits and other items. Many of these were designed to make people laugh--at the victims of pranks.

Mr T specializes in these and people should know about this before they venture to camp.

The students interviewed felt that they gained confidence and learned new skills from the activities. They all got on well together. They gave the camp ten out of ten. There was not one thing they didn't like about it.

They realize just how lucky they are to have a class teacher like Mr T, his helper Miss Meg and the parents who gave up their time to give them all a thrilling and happy four days.. BWeBman is sure that they said thank you to these people when the camp finished. (One of the bloggers says that Mr T is the best teacher ever)

.

BWeBman interviewed these three, Eva, Ryan and Kelsey about the camp.

BOOK WEEK CHARACTERS, 15 MAY

You may be a character who comes out of some book

But Mr T can't you see just how crazy you look ?

(For those not in the know, Mr T was one of those rodents who was chased by a farmer's wife.)
