We have 19 year 7 and 8 students in the class whose main aim, suggested by Aidan B is to prepare ourselves for High School |
Other aims: Ryan's suggestion, to work towards the end-of-year awards, was also popular. Aidan P thought that we should try to learn as much as we can. Conor's idea that we should try to get on with everybody as much as possible, is seen as crucial. |
Planned highlights for this year include: a ski trip, tramping excursion to Anchorage, major production, pumpkin picking for fundraising, interschool sports and...final assembly. |
Our behaviour in and about school is pretty good. We show a good example as seniors, and no-one feels that it's 'cool to be a fool in school'. Relieving teachers are eager to come to Room3. We make visitors welcome and are friendly to new students. |
The activities we enjoy most are: MoTEC, sport, main subjects, ICT and recess time. |
Outside activities include: all sports, music, computers, motocross, mountain biking, collecting things, dancing, jumpjam |
| We feel that our class is special because of the special people in it. We are supportive and enjoy each other's company. We are a SAFE class in which we are not afraid to be ourselves, and we do not fear our fellow students. We have a caring and capable teacher, Miss Sefton. | |||

Some of our early written and art work revolved around New Zealand icons called Kiwiana. Play the slideshows to see some of our written work. More is to be found on our blog, when it has been updated. To pause the first slideshow, just click the pause button which will give you time to read the text. The art work is created around the same theme. | ||

THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM DISPLAYED ON OUR WALL |
![]() |
The New Zealand Curriculum has eight learning areas: English, The Arts, Health and Physical Education (PE), Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences and Technology. Students develop key knowledge, skills and concepts in each area and learn how to apply them in their lives. The vision is young people as confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners. It gives schools the flexibility to develop learning programmes that ‘work’ for all students. It provides broad principles, values and key competencies to be explored and adopted through the teaching of eight learning areas. The key competencies which sit alongside the learning areas are designed to encourage enjoyment of learning, the ability to think critically, manage self, set goals overcome obstacles and get along with others – the attributes they need to succeed as adults. As part of our health and PE curriculum we studied how those with physical problems cope with the world. We were visited by representatives of the CCS. Some of us experienced first-hand the difficulties they encounter. |
Room3, in retrospect
A past major project was a visit to Te Awhina (The Helping hand), our local Marae
